Count and check if it pairs in twos!
If it does, it’s an even number. Yay!
If not, it’s an odd number. No problemo!

Here’s how we do it:

1. Pick any number (like 4).
2. Try splitting it into two equal groups.
3. If both groups have the same count, hooray—it’s even!
4. If one group has more, oh no—it’s odd!

Example Time!

Let’s try with the number 5:

• Can you split 5 apples between you and a friend?
• Hmm, each gets 2 apples, but there’s 1 apple leftover.
• That means 5 is an odd number!

Tips for Superhero Parents!

Teaching even and odd numbers should feel like playtime:

• Use objects around the house: buttons, toys, or snacks work great!
• Sing songs about counting by twos (“Two, four, six, eight…”).
• Make it a game: “Find me something that’s even!”
• Celebrate small wins—they’ll remember the fun forever!
