Understanding Mixed Number Forms
Did you know decimals and fractions are just different ways to show the same value?
To compare numbers like 0.5 and ½, we need to convert them to the same form. You can either change all numbers to decimals or all to fractions - whichever you find easier! Remember, practice makes perfect.
How to Order Mixed Numbers
1️⃣ Convert everything to the same form (either all decimals or all fractions)
2️⃣ Find equivalent values (like knowing ¼ = 0.25 or ½ = 0.5)
3️⃣ Compare the numbers and arrange them from smallest to largest
Let's Practice Together!

Parent Tips 🌟
- Kitchen Math: When cooking, ask your child to help measure ingredients using both fractions (½ cup) and decimals (0.5 cup) to show they're equal.
- Money Practice: Use coins to demonstrate decimal values (quarters = 0.25 = ¼) to make the connection concrete.
- Game Time: Play "Number War" with cards showing fractions and decimals to practice quick comparisons.
