What is Skip-counting?
Skip-counting is counting by numbers other than 1!
Instead of counting 1, 2, 3, 4... we can count by 2s (2, 4, 6, 8...) or 5s (5, 10, 15...). It helps us count faster and find patterns in numbers. Look at the pictures below to see how it works!
How to Skip-count
1️⃣ Choose your skip number (like 2, 5, or 10)
2️⃣ Start counting from any number
3️⃣ Jump over numbers to land on the right ones
Let's Practice with Pictures!
Example 1: Counting by 2s with Animal Pairs

Parent Tips 🌟
- Make it musical: Sing skip-counting songs to help remember the patterns (like "5, 10, 15, 20...").
- Use everyday objects: Count pairs of socks by 2s, groups of coins by 5s, or fingers by 10s.
- Hopscotch counting: Draw a number line and have your child jump the skip-counting pattern.
