What is Estimation?
Estimation is like making a smart guess!
It's when we look at numbers or amounts and try to figure out about how many there are without counting each one. We use estimation every day - like guessing how many cookies are in the jar or how long it takes to walk to the park!
How to Make Good Estimates
1️⃣ Look at the group of things
2️⃣ Compare to what you already know
3️⃣ Guess a number that makes sense
Let's Practice Estimation!
Cookie Jar Estimation
Look at the cookies in the jar. About how many do you think there are?

Hint: There are between 20 and 30 cookies in the jar!
Jellybean Estimation
Here are some jellybeans! Quickly look and guess how many there are:
Parent Tips 🌟
- Make it a game: Turn estimation into fun challenges around the house ("About how many steps to the mailbox?").
- Use everyday objects: Practice with buttons, toys, or fruit to make estimation feel natural.
- Praise the process: Celebrate when your child makes reasonable estimates, even if they're not exactly right.
