Understanding Fractions
Fractions are parts of a whole!
Imagine you have a pizza cut into equal slices. If you have 1 slice out of 4, that's 1/4. If you have 3 slices, that's 3/4! The number on top (numerator) tells how many parts you have, and the number on bottom (denominator) tells how many equal parts the whole is divided into.
How to Compare Fractions
1️⃣ Same denominators: Just compare the numerators! (3/4 > 1/4)
2️⃣ Same numerators: The bigger denominator is actually smaller! (1/2 > 1/4)
3️⃣ Different fractions: Use pictures or pies to see which is bigger!
Let's Practice Comparing!
