Location in a Three-by-Three Grid

Finding your way around with rows and columns!

What is a Three-by-Three Grid?

A grid helps us find where things are!
Imagine a big square divided into 9 smaller squares - that's a three-by-three grid! We can use numbers for rows (left to right) and letters for columns (top to bottom) to describe exactly where something is in the grid.

How to Find Positions

1️⃣ Rows go across (1 at the top, 3 at the bottom)

2️⃣ Columns go down (A on the left, C on the right)

3️⃣ Find the spot where the row and column meet!

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Play grid games - Use a tic-tac-toe board to practice positions by calling out coordinates for X's and O's.
  • Make it physical - Create a life-size grid with tape on the floor and have your child stand in different positions.
  • Connect to real life - Show how grids are used in maps, seating charts, or bingo cards to make learning practical.
