Addition - Two Digits Review

Let's practice adding numbers between 10 and 99!

Adding Two-Digit Numbers

Great job learning two-digit addition!
Adding bigger numbers is exciting! Remember to add the ones first, then the tens. If the ones add up to 10 or more, don't forget to carry over the extra ten to the tens column!

How to Add Two-Digit Numbers

1️⃣ Write the numbers one above the other

2️⃣ Add the ones column first

3️⃣ Carry over if needed, then add the tens

Let's Practice Together!

Example 1

What is 24 + 35?

Let's add step by step:

1. Add the ones: 4 + 5 = 9

2. Add the tens: 20 + 30 = 50

3. Put them together: 50 + 9 = 59

🌟 The answer is 59! 🌟

Example 2 (with carrying)

What is 47 + 38?

This one needs carrying! Watch carefully:

1. Add the ones: 7 + 8 = 15 (that's 1 ten and 5 ones)

2. Write down 5 and carry over 1 to the tens

3. Add the tens: 40 + 30 + 10 (carried) = 80

4. Put them together: 80 + 5 = 85

🎉 The answer is 85! 🎉

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Use real objects: Have your child add groups of small toys or snacks to make practice fun and concrete.
  • Play "store": Use pretend money to practice adding prices of two items together.
  • Make it a game: Create flashcards and time how many your child can solve correctly in 1 minute, then try to beat that score!
