Comparing Numbers up to 100

Learn how to tell which number is bigger or smaller!

Understanding Number Comparison

Numbers can be friends who like to play "who's bigger?" games!
When we compare numbers, we use special symbols to show which number is greater, which is smaller, or if they're equal. It's like being a number detective!

How to Compare Numbers

1️⃣ Look at the tens place first - the number with more tens is bigger!

2️⃣ If tens are equal, look at the ones place to decide

3️⃣ Use our symbols: > (greater than), < (less than), or = (equal to)

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Play the "Number War" card game - Deal cards to make 2-digit numbers and compare them to see who wins each round!
  • Use real-life examples - Compare ages in your family, prices at the store, or scores in games to make it practical.
  • Make it physical - Write numbers on sticky notes and have your child physically place them in order from smallest to largest.
