Counting and Patterns Are Everywhere!
Counting helps us understand how many things there are, and patterns help us
predict what comes next!
Today we'll review counting forward and backward, skip counting (by 2s, 5s, and 10s), and finding
patterns in number sequences. These skills help us with addition, subtraction, and even multiplication!
Counting Steps
1️⃣ Start with the first number
2️⃣ Look for the pattern (what's changing?)
3️⃣ Continue the sequence using the same pattern
Let's Practice Together!
Example 1: Complete the Pattern
What comes next in this pattern? 5, 10, 15, 20, ___
Look at how much each number increases by!
The pattern is counting by 5s! So the next number is 25. Great job if you got it!
Example 2: Counting Game

Parent Tips 🌟
- Count everything: Turn everyday activities into counting practice - count steps, toys, or pieces of fruit.
- Pattern hunt: Look for number patterns in calendars, clocks, and house numbers during walks.
- Make it musical: Create counting songs or chants for skip counting (2, 4, 6, 8...).
