What Are Fractions?
Fractions are parts of a whole!
Imagine you have a delicious pizza or a yummy chocolate bar. When you share it with friends, you're
making fractions! The top number (numerator) tells how many parts you have, and the bottom number
(denominator) tells how many equal parts the whole is divided into.
Fraction Basics
1️⃣ Numerator: The number on top (how many parts you have) 🎯
2️⃣ Denominator: The number on bottom (total equal parts) 🍰
3️⃣ Equal Parts: All pieces must be the same size! 📏

Parent Tips 🌟
- Kitchen Math: Use cooking to teach fractions - measure ingredients together and talk about halves, quarters, and thirds.
- Fraction Hunt: Look for fractions in everyday life - slices of pizza, segments of oranges, or sections of a chocolate bar.
- Visual Aids: Use paper plates or construction paper to create fraction circles kids can physically manipulate.
