What Are Flips, Turns, and Slides?
Shapes can move in special ways!
Just like you can flip a pancake, turn a doorknob, or slide down a slide, shapes can do these movements too!
We call these special movements "transformations." Let's learn about each one!
The Three Special Movements
1️⃣ Flip (Reflection): Like looking in a mirror!
2️⃣ Turn (Rotation): Spinning like a top!
3️⃣ Slide (Translation): Moving without turning!
Let's Try It Out!

Parent Tips 🌟
- Play mirror games - Stand facing your child and have them mirror your movements to understand flips
- Use toys to demonstrate - Spin a toy car to show turns, slide a book across the table
- Go on a shape hunt - Look for objects in your home that have been flipped, turned, or slid (like chairs around a table)
