Multiplication Sentences

Understanding how groups of numbers work together!

What Are Multiplication Sentences?

Multiplication is like adding the same number over and over!
A multiplication sentence shows how many groups of something we have and how many are in each group. It has three parts: the numbers being multiplied (factors), the multiplication sign (×), and the answer (product).

How to Read Multiplication Sentences

1️⃣ First number tells us how many groups we have

2️⃣ Second number tells us how many are in each group

3️⃣ Answer tells us the total amount

Parent Tips 🌟

  • Use real objects: Count groups of toys, snacks, or household items to make multiplication concrete.
  • Make it a game: Play "multiplication war" with cards where you flip two cards and multiply them.
  • Connect to addition: Show how multiplication is repeated addition (3×4 is the same as 4+4+4).
