Understanding Tens and Ones
Numbers are like building blocks!
Every two-digit number is made up of tens and ones. The tens tell us how many groups of ten we have,
and the ones tell us how many extra single blocks we have. Let's learn how to break numbers apart
and put them back together!
How to Convert Between Numbers and Tens/Ones
1️⃣ Look at the number's digits
2️⃣ The first digit is tens, the second is ones
3️⃣ To make the number: (tens × 10) + ones = number

Parent Tips 🌟
- Use physical objects: Count out groups of 10 items (like blocks or beans) to show tens, and single items for ones.
- Make it a game: Play "number detective" where your child breaks down numbers you see in everyday life (like house numbers or prices).
- Connect to money: Use dimes (10 cents) for tens and pennies (1 cent) for ones to make real-world connections.
