Understanding Graphs and Important Numbers
Graphs help us see information in a fun, visual way!
When we look at graphs, we can find special numbers called median, mode, and range. These numbers tell us interesting things about the information in the graph.
How to Find Them
1️⃣ Median: The middle number when all numbers are in order
2️⃣ Mode: The number that appears most often
3️⃣ Range: The difference between the biggest and smallest numbers
Let's Practice with Examples!
Example 1: Favorite Ice Cream Flavors
This graph shows how many kids like each ice cream flavor.
Example 2: Pets in Our Class
This graph shows how many pets of each type our classmates have.
Parent Tips 🌟
- Make it real: Collect simple data at home (like favorite fruits or TV shows) and help your child create a graph to find median, mode, and range.
- Use toys: Line up stuffed animals or toy cars by size to practice finding the median (middle one).
- Play "most popular": At dinner, ask family members to vote on favorite foods and find the mode (most popular choice).
