Understanding Large Number Addition
Adding big numbers is just like adding smaller numbers - just with more digits!
When we add numbers up to millions, we work with digits in the ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten-thousands, hundred-thousands, and millions places. The key is to add one place at a time, starting from the right, and remember to carry over when needed.
How to Add Large Numbers
1️⃣ Line up the numbers by place value (ones under ones, tens under tens, etc.)
2️⃣ Add column by column, starting from the right (ones place)
3️⃣ Carry over if the sum in any column is 10 or more

Parent Tips 🌟
- Use real-world examples: Show how large numbers are used in population counts, distances, or budgets to make practice meaningful.
- Break it down: Have your child add two numbers by breaking them into millions, thousands, and ones parts separately, then combine the results.
- Play store with big numbers: Create pretend price tags in the hundreds of thousands and have your child "buy" multiple items.
