Understanding Fraction Order
Fractions show parts of a whole!
When we order fractions, we're figuring out which pieces are smaller or larger. Just like arranging your toys from smallest to biggest, we can arrange fractions too!
How to Order Fractions
1️⃣ Same Denominator: If bottoms are same, compare tops (numerators)
2️⃣ Same Numerator: If tops are same, bigger bottoms mean smaller fractions
3️⃣ Different: Find common denominator or compare to benchmarks like ½
Let's Practice Together!
Example 1: Visual Fractions
Which fraction is larger? Compare the shaded parts:
½
¼
¾
⅓
Example 2: Sort the Fractions
Drag these fractions to order them from smallest to largest:
½
⅗
¼
⅘
Parent Tips 🌟
