Understanding Shape Properties
Every shape has special features we can count and compare!
In 2D shapes, we count sides (edges) and corners (vertices). In 3D shapes, we also count faces - the flat surfaces that make up the shape. Let's learn how to identify and count these important features!
Counting Shape Features
1️⃣ Sides/Edges: The straight lines that form the shape's outline
2️⃣ Vertices: The points where edges meet (corners)
3️⃣ Faces: Flat surfaces (only in 3D shapes)

Parent Tips 🌟
- Shape Hunt: Go on a shape hunt around your home and count sides/edges, corners, and faces of objects you find.
- Building Challenge: Use building blocks or toothpicks and marshmallows to create shapes and count their features together.
- Daily Objects: Compare everyday items - "Does the cereal box have more edges than your Rubik's cube?" to make learning practical.
