What Does It Mean to Convert Decimals to Fractions?
Decimals and fractions are two ways to show the same thing!
Just like you can say "half" or "0.5", they both mean the same amount. Converting decimals to fractions
helps us understand numbers better and makes some math problems easier to solve.
How to Convert Decimals to Fractions
1️⃣ Identify the place value of the last decimal digit
2️⃣ Write the decimal as a fraction with that place value as denominator
3️⃣ Simplify the fraction by dividing numerator and denominator
Let's Practice Together!
Example 1: Convert 0.75 to a fraction
1. The last digit (5) is in the hundredths place
2. Write as: 75/100
3. Simplify by dividing both by 25: 3/4
🎉 Great job! 0.75 = 3/4
Example 2: Convert 0.6 to a fraction
1. The last digit (6) is in the tenths place
2. Write as: 6/10
3. Simplify by dividing both by 2: 3/5
🌟 Awesome! 0.6 = 3/5
