What Are Fractions?
Fractions show parts of a whole!
A fraction has two numbers: the top number (numerator) tells how many parts we have,
and the bottom number (denominator) tells how many equal parts the whole is divided into.
Think of a pizza cut into slices - if you have 3 slices out of 8, that's 3/8 of the pizza!
Understanding Fractions in 3 Steps
1️⃣ Identify the whole (like a pizza, chocolate bar, or pie)
2️⃣ Count how many equal parts it's divided into (denominator)
3️⃣ Count how many parts you have (numerator)

Parent Tips 🌟
- Use real-life examples: Cooking together is perfect for practicing fractions - measure ingredients, divide pizza slices, or share cookies.
- Make it visual: Use paper plates to create fraction circles or cut fruit to show equal parts. Visual aids help concepts stick!
- Play fraction games: Try "Fraction War" with playing cards (use face cards as whole numbers) or create a fraction bingo game.
