Understanding Place Values
Every digit in a number has a special place!
Whether you're working with whole numbers or decimals, each position represents a different value.
Converting between place values helps us understand numbers better and makes calculations easier.
How to Convert Between Place Values
1️⃣ Identify the current place value of your digit
2️⃣ Remember that each move left is ×10 and each move right is ÷10
3️⃣ Adjust the number by moving the decimal point or adding/removing zeros

Parent Tips 🌟
- Use money: Show how $1 (hundreds place as dollars) converts to 100 pennies (ones place) to make it tangible.
- Play place value games: Create a "place value hopscotch" where each square represents a different place value.
- Relate to measurements: Convert between meters (ones), decimeters (tenths), and centimeters (hundredths) to show real-world applications.
