What Are Roman Numerals?
Roman numerals are the number system used in ancient Rome!
They use combinations of letters from the Latin alphabet to represent values. You've probably seen them
on clocks, in movie credits, or in historical dates. Let's learn how they work!
Basic Symbols:
I = 1 V = 5 X = 10 L = 50
C = 100 D = 500 M = 1000
How Roman Numerals Work
1️⃣ Addition Rule: When a smaller numeral follows a larger one, add them (VI = 5 + 1 = 6)
2️⃣ Subtraction Rule: When a smaller numeral comes before a larger one, subtract it (IV = 5 - 1 = 4)
3️⃣ No More Than Three: Never use more than three of the same symbol in a row (Use IV instead of IIII)
